Our Philosophy

Dr. Stya Paul believed that entrepreneurs are not only born but can also be identified, trained and created. Inspired by his belief, the campus has decided to create an Entrepreneurship Development Cell (EDC) with the objective of generating the spirit of ‘Self Employment’ and ‘Self Reliance’ among the youth.

Why EDC?

In view of the worldwide shortage of jobs (both government and private sectors) leading to unemployment problems & lack of proper utilisation of human resources; the EDC strives to identify talented youth for entrepreneurial works. The Cell plans to organise various programmes regarding entrepreneurship development.

It will boost and promote the culture of ‘Creating Jobs’ rather than ‘Doing Jobs’ which in fact is the need of the hour. The EDC will help to create an entrepreneurship culture by conducting Entrepreneurship Development Programmes, Entrepreneurship Awareness Camps and Entrepreneurship Motivation Camps.

Objectives of the Cell

  • Creating awareness among the students and the educated unemployed youth regarding entrepreneurship as a career option.
  • Conduct training programmes in the field of entrepreneurial skill development.
  • Develop entrepreneurship related course curriculum to incorporate in management and engineering programmes.
  • Provide guidance and facilities to first time entrepreneurs during gestation.

Workshop on Idea Generation

The Entrepreneurship Development Cell organised a workshop cum competition called ‘Idea Generation’. The winning idea of starting an online portal for old books was proposed by Sandeep, Varun, Arun, Rahul and Harvind from the MCA programme. The second best idea of introducing a sensor stick for the blind was presented by Harshit, Karan, Reexesh, Hardeep and Shivam from the MBA programme.

Skillsvilla 2014

The Entrepreneurship Development Cell organised ‘Skilsvilla 2014’, a series of competitions like Masterchef AIMTC, Treasure Hunt and One Minute to win it for the students. The prize winners were awarded Certificates of Appreciation for their commendable performances.

Entrepreneurship Awareness Campaign

The Entrepreneurship Development Cell organised a three-day Entrepreneurship Awareness Campaign from October 29-31, 2014 in collaboration with GNDU College, Jalandhar; Entrepreneurship Development Institute of India, Ahmedabad & Department of Science and Technology, Government of India. The campaign was inaugurated by Mr. Sudhir Gera, Director-Operations, IEC, Kirloskar Gensets Ltd. He deliberated upon the topic ‘Role of Quality in Entrepreneurship’ wherein he stressed on the various possibilities for entrepreneurship ventures. The resource persons for the campaign were Prof. M.J. Kalra and Dr. Ashish Arora from GNDU College, Jalandhar.

Case Study Competition

A Case Study Competition was held in the campus for the MBA students on March 2, 2015. The team comprising Aneesh Singhal, Tarunveer Singh, Kawalpreet and Himanshu Jain from MBA (II C) were declared as the winners. The other team comprising Sheenam, Nishtha, Naveen and Neeraj were declared as the first runner-up.
